Silicone Sheeting for Keloids and Hypertrophic Scars—by Doctor’s Prescription Only

ReJuveness silicone sheeting for problem scarring was introduced in 1996. Before that the product was marketed as Silk-Skin. Silk-Skin was a prescription-only device with whats called a FDA 510 or like device to Sil-K the silicone occlusive sheeting (Degania, Israel). The product was initially marketed to and distributed through plastic surgeons, dermatologist, burn centers, hospitals, and pharmacies. ReJuveness silicone sheeting was developed by engineers from GE Silicones, the inventors of silicone.

The Scarring Patient—Abandoned by Their Doctors: A tribute to Dr. Earl Peacock

The ReJuveness marketing breakthrough came in 1996 after contacting the teacher, plastic surgeon, and scarring expert Dr. Erle Peacock. I had read his comprehensive textbook, Wound Repair, and was more than impressed by the style and depth of writing. In short, I was a fan, probably one of his only. One day I worked up the courage to call Dr. Peacock to see if I might get any insight into the present state of the art of scar management.

C-section Scar Treatment

c-section scar management and treatmentC-section scars make many women feel self-conscious or less attractive. ReJuveness offers ways to reduce the appearance of c-section scars. Because of the unique nature of c-section incisions, they do pose a greater chance of developing into hypertrophic and keloid scars than other surgical procedures. A primary reason for this is that collagen resorption is at its greatest during the first 48 hours after a c-section is performed. During this period of time after the c-section, the uterus shrinks significantly as it returns to its normal size.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) for Men

Can men benefit from Abdominoplasty?

Yes, there are now many men taking advantage of Abdominoplasty for treating a large and protruding stomach or excess fat in the abdomen region.

The following instances are reasons men can significantly benefit from Abdominoplasty. Frequent or dramatic changes in weight can cause the abdominal muscles to weaken, the skin to sag, and stretch marks to appear for men. In many cases, however, simple aging is the primary reason behind the flabby midsection that is the source of frustration and disappointment for many men. As we age, fat redistributes itself to the abdominal area. For many men, exercise alone cannot produce the slim, fit, and youthful looking result they desire.

Stretch Mark Scar Treatment

Stretch marks or striae, as they are called in dermatology, are a form of scarring on the skin with a silvery white hue. They are caused by tearing of the dermis, and over time can diminish but not disappear completely. Stretch marks are generally associated with pregnancy, obesity, and can develop during rapid muscle growth from body building. Stretch marks are the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth (e.g. puberty) or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy), and anabolic steroid use. Although the skin is fairly elastic, rapid stretching of the skin will leave permanent stretch marks.

Stretch marks (also referred to as striae distensae. Medical terminology for these kinds of markings include striae atrophicae, vergetures, striae cutis distensae, striae gravidarum (in cases where it is caused by pregnancy), lineae atrophicae, striae distensae, linea albicante, or simply striae.

Stretch marks quickly turn indented white (an inactive state)and do not respond to traditional treatment. If  scars are new, 30 days old, red or discolored you can apply traditional ReJuveness products. If your scars are white we recommend incorporating the ReJuveness Derma Roller into your regimen.
